The Characters. This is a dressing room for characters from music-based fandoms. This includes musical films, stage shows, concept albums, single songs, et cetera. This includes characters who are not, in their canon, aware that they are singing. It includes characters who are from non-musical canons who are professional or (equally dedicated) musicians. Rule of thumb is, the music has to be a central part of their canon or character. If you aren't sure if a character would fit, just ask.

This includes AUs/genderbends. It does not include OCs. Representations of real people are only permitted if they exist in a fictional form somewhere. (Example: The real Paul McCartney would not be permitted, but Paul from A Hard Day's Night, with his "clean old man" grandfather, would be.)
Multiples of characters are okay! This is a dressing room, after all.
If your character is not ICly a musician, they can protest their inexperience and how they shouldn’t be here. But when/if they go out on stage, they’ll know the songs and choreography by heart. (Have fun with their reactions to this, when they return backstage!)
If your character is under 16, keep them out of adult situations.

Manners. Follow basic RP etiquette. Don’t godmode, don’t powergame. IC conflict can be awesome, but keep it IC. OOC conflict is not awesome, and while we recognise that not everyone will get along, don’t bring it into IC play, and don’t wank up the OOC comm. We’re all grownups here. If you have a problem that you don’t think can be solved amongst yourselves, get in touch with the mod.

Fourth-Walling. Recognising other characters from their source canon is okay, unless the other character’s mun notes otherwise, beforehand. Using information from their canon in a malicious way is not okay, unless the mun of the character is okay with it. Check first. Actively telling a character they’re fictional is permitted only if the mun of the muse being fourth-walled is agreeable. Check first.

Sharing. We all love music, obviously. Linking to downloadable content, such as albums or movies, is just fine! But you must friends-lock. If you are linking to or embedding shorter clips, with your character performing onstage ICly, you must tag the post "@ onstage". It’s fine to link to examples of what they’re playing, if they’re practicing backstage, but keep it conservative.
For every onstage post, you have to put up at least one backstage post, to keep it balanced.

Tags. When you post, tag it with your character’s name and canon, in the following format:
mrs. lovett | sweeney todd
If they’re an AU, or a genderswap, note this in the following format:
mrs. lovett | sweeney todd (au)
“au” and “genderswap” should be the only two tag modifiers we need -- if you want to add another one, let the mod know first, so they can say whether it’s really necessary.
You don’t need to tag a post if you’ve just replied to it (unless you want to), but doing it for party-style posts won't hurt.

Warnings. If there is going to be drug use, sex, violence, or anything else that might make some people uncomfortable, please cut, and use an appropriate tag. If there is no appropriate warning tag, make one in the following format:
! warning: rock and roll
